Imagine: a large uncrowded swimming pool where your family
can swim with others you know 

The Group was started 30 years ago by several families from Blue Anchor, and was subsequently joined by families from Taunton and North Curry. But our children have mostly grown up (some are now bringing their own children !) and we are looking for five or six more families to join - 09 July 2008

Our only rule is that at least one adult is expected to be in the water and in charge of their child(ren).

Although some informal swimming tuition is available, together with the occasional badge, the purpose of the Group is to give the opportunity for families to relax and enjoy themselves.

The session is professionally lifeguarded, and age or swimming ability is not important as long as you enjoy yourselves as a family. At the moment the average cost for a 1-hour swim is around £2.00 per person, billed on an 8-week basis - but the cost reduces when more swim, which is where you come in !

A small disadvantage is that the shallow end is too deep for the average 6-year old to stand - but it also means that they have to learn to swim rather quickly ! (or use arm-bands for a while). Although hundreds of children (and a few adults) have learned to swim with this Group, the emphasis is on informality and family enjoyment.

The first session is free so why not try it for yourselves and combine it with your weekly shopping trip to Taunton ?
