The ASA range of speed awards (available for all four main strokes) are difficult to attain
for young swimmers as they are targetted more towards the expectancies of the 10-12 year age range. A number of younger Dolphins have already achieved one or more of these Awards.
depends upon swimming one or more of the recognised strokes over one length of a 25 metre pool - as fast as possible.
A Silver Speed award (in any stroke) is part of the Complete Swimmer award
Children are occasionally timed over 25 metres at
Watchet in order to assess their readiness for these awards and only those with a realistic chance of success are given the opportunity to tackle these awards.
