(1) that the operation of the Aquasplash Leisure Centre by either an in-house team or by Somerset County Leisure is not considered to be financially viable.

(2) that the Council ceases to operate the Aquasplash facility with immediate effect.

(3) that the Acting Head of Paid Service be requested to investigate the opportunities for redeploying those staff permanently employed at Aquasplash into suitable alternative employment within the Council’s organisational structure.

(4) that the Acting Head of Paid Service be requested to prepare a report for presentation to a special meeting of Cabinet to be held in mid March 2008 that summarises the results of the investigation referred to in paragraph resolution 3 above together with the full details, including costs, of any subsequent compulsory redundancies.

(5) that a cross party working group, including representatives from the users of Aquasplash, be set up to consider alternative ways of operating the facility and report back to Cabinet and Council in four to six weeks.
